Default item can be transmuted into special item through recipe placement

You can transmute (sort of dupe) items with lore, custom_data, and other item data as follows:
1. Get a small amount of the item you want to dupe (see first slot)

/give @s minecraft:quartz[lore=['Visible_lore'], minecraft:custom_data={extra_data:1}]

2. Get more items of the base form to transmute into the special form, put it into a later slot (see second slot)

/give @s minecraft:quartz 64

3. Place recipes using the recipe book, e.g. for the quartz block in this case
Once one special item has been placed, all additional items through extra recipe book clicks in that slot will turn into the special form, which you can simply take out.
