Minecraft game window won't open after the play button is clicked. Instead, the launcher reopens.

When I click play on the launcher it closes, but immediately reopens saying there was a "bad state (exit code -1)" The game window never appears. I tried re-downloading the launcher.

Launcher 1.1.4 (through bootstrap 5) started on windows...
