End poem doesnt activate upon throwing an ender pearl through for the first time

When you tryna use an ender pearl to throw through the end portal, it wouldnt activate the end poem

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to the end for the first time and beat the ender dragon (if it hasnt already been beaten)
2. Throw an ender pearl through the exit portal instead of going in normally
3. You are instantly back to the overworld without getting the end poem
