Sugar Cane Glitch

You can place sugar cane In water on low lever water.

What I expected to happen was...:
Nothing, the sugar cane wouldn't place

What actually happened was...:
I placed a sugarcane on water and it actually placed, I was doing it as a joke but it just placed and stayed there until I had to break it

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a surface level water source 
2. Place your sugarcane 
3. You will realise that the sugar cane is placed in water and also surrounded by water
