Buckets disappear when collecting water or lava sources

When a bucket is used to collect either a water source block or lava source block, the bucket disappears from the inventory, but so does the source block. Another related issue I know of is when maps are used in survival mode, they do not generate and simoly disappear. I know this isn't ghost buckets, as I changed my right-click bind to a key to test. Please fix this, as this is quite an annoying error.
