Cannot Eat After Holding Shield V.2

Like the bug reported in 2017 this has popped up in my Java 1.21 edition game with the same issue. I cant play because I cannot eat and I starve: I crafted a shield and held it. I then tried to eat and could not. Even after removing the shield, I could not eat. Right click in general is not working even after I switched the key binding to another trigger key.
