When I select something on the creative menu, my game flickers and then crashes

I just created a new creative world, and when I opened the creative menu to get sticks, my entire game started flickering and then crashed. And when I got back on, I tried other items and some worked while others crashed the game. Also, I tested this out on my cousins PC, and it didn't crash the game. Maybe this is a problem with Linux operating systems. But Mojang if you see this please fix this so I can build in my worlds.
So I tried to find the crash report and the launcher logs, but the crash report folder doesn't exist for me, and when I try to look at the launcher logs, it just shows a snowman. Is there anything else I can do?
