Minecraft is making my world be an old version when I am trying to play Minecraft 1.20.6

What I expected to happen was...:
me to start playing my new Minecraft world.

What actually happened was...:
I was on an older version of Minecraft.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Minecraft launcher.
2. Go to "Minecraft: Java Edition" and click "Play".
3. Make a new world and on my computer, the world was a very old version.
