wolf variations not spawning after upgrading world to 1.20.6

I've made many worlds in versions 1.20.5 and 1.20.6 to test but since 1.20.6 came out no matter what I do all wolves spawn as the regular pail wolves, even when I go back to worlds that did have wolf variations they are all pail wolfs now. no matter if I command summon them or spawn from an egg all wolves natural or not are pail.
