Rain affects an entity with water behavior only when the center of the entity is in contact with the rain
Rain behaves like water in several ways: it deals damage to blazes, endermen, snow golems, and striders; extinguishes burning entities; enables the riptide enchantment; and allows conduits to grant the Conduit Power effect to players and attack mobs. This issue relates to MC-265047, MC-265045, and MC-265049, which were marked as 'won't fix,' and to MC-248890, which was triaged with low priority by Mojang but not marked as 'won't fix.' Therefore, it may be worth reviewing the other three issues. Also relates to MC-1133.
Steps to reproduce
/weather rain
/setblock ~ ~2 ~ minecraft:netherite_block
/execute align xyz run tp ~ ~ ~
- Attempt to use a Riptide-enchanted trident
/summon minecraft:blaze ~ ~ ~ {NoAI:1b}
Observed result: The Riptide trident cannot be used, and the blaze does not take damage.
Expected result: The Riptide trident should be usable, and the blaze should take damage.
