Killing the Ender Dragon when there's a pillar reaching the build height limit on the End portal does not provide a dragon egg

When killing the Ender Dragon for the first time, the dragon egg will appear on top of the pillar if you build one on the End portal. However, if this pillar reaches the build height limit, the dragon egg won't appear because it can't be placed there. This seems like an oversight and could be seen as a feature request or an intentional design choice, but Mojang should decide. One possible solution is to place the dragon egg next to the portal in such cases.

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a new world

2. /setblock ~ ~ ~ minecraft:end_portal

3. /execute positioned 0 0 0 positioned over motion_blocking run fill ~ ~ ~ ~ 255 ~ minecraft:obsidian

4. Kill the ender dragon

Observed result: There is no way to obtain a dragon egg in this world in survival mode, even though it is technically achievable.
Expected result: There should be a way to obtain the dragon egg in survival mode.
