Riptide enchantment does not work properly

Repro steps:

1. Launch the title.
2. Create and load a new Creative world.
3. Obtain a trident from creative inventory.
4. Enchant the trident via command: /enchant @s minecraft:riptide.
5. Go underwater or set weather to rain with: /weather rain.
6. Try to launch yourself with said enchanted trident.
7. Observe the issue.

Observed Results:

 

Player gets launched downwards every time instead of direction of choice.

 

Expected Results:

 

Riptide enchantment works as intended.
