Horse armor and wolf armor are deleted when used on an armor stand

Whenever I right click on an armor stand with a piece of wolf armor it seems to become attach to the armor stand like regular armor does but it does not appear on the armor stand. When the armor stand is broken it seems that the wolf armor just vanishes. 

Edit: It also appears to do the same thing when using horse armor
