Autosave Lag/Freeze?

Ever since the latest update my game became partly unplayable. 

Whenever the autosave icon appears the world kinda breaks, while I can still move around and place blocks as well as technically break them. No blocks will drop nor am I able to pick anything up nor interact with them. If I was breaking blocks during the autosave I will teleport back to wherever I was when the autosave started and any removed blocks are back into place.  When I am placing blocks the blocks remain registered (so long as I didn't break any during the save) but I am unable to interact with them until the autosave is done.

The autosave takes about 30 seconds, usually the autosave happens every 5 ish minutes but it also seems excessive at points with not even a full minute having gone by before another autosave happens.

Also if it helps, FPS has an average of 116 and does not change whenever the game saves.
