Cannot take screenshot on Linux unless gui is open

On version 1.20.x pressing PrtScr to take a screenshot does nothing unless a gui, be it chest or pause menu, is open. Holding alt forces full screen screenshot without opening the menu. F2 still works but i prefer system screenshot.
