Lost all my items after updating the game and logging in

I have a shared world with my partner that we've been playing on for months and after we updated our game to the latest version and logged back into the world, I had respawned in default spawn and had lost my whole inventory and  my partner had glitched out of the world and died and had lost his whole inventory as well.
