Crossbow behaviour in off hand is inconsistent

I have been experimenting with crossbows lately and found some inconsistent behaviour with them.

When having a charged crossbow in the off hand slot, items that can be "activated" with a right click like food, ender pearls and eggs all activate before the crossbow with the exception of the ender eye that neither shoots the eye or the crossbow, having a weird visual glitch instead that can be seen in the video.
