Fullscreen resolution changer is completly broken under Wayland (xwayland)

Minecraft version < 1.13 gets wrong full screen resize when using non-native resolution (e.g 1280x720) under Wayland session (xwayland). Trying setting the game full-screen resolution to any resolution below 1080p reproduces this: 

Using versions above 1.13 the resolution changer doesn't even try to change it, but instead only glitches my mouse pointer location.

I first encountered this bug in 2022 when trying Wayland for the first time, and I could reproduce the same bug to this day.

The bug is reproducible in vanilla/forge/optifine and any WM/DE using the wayland compositor.
