Generic.scale causing partial or total x-ray effect when walking into blocks

Using the generic.scale and setting the base to .41 or below causes an X-ray effect to occur. On higher settings, it affects the sides of the screen. On lower settings (.16 or below), it causes complete x-raying when walking into a block. This effect is still present on version 24w11a and has not been addressed.
