Random block displays the breaking animation and sounds in adventure mode

I was just playing around with a contraption I made, when I noticed that one of the blue ice blocks seems to be breaking, even though I was in adventure mode. Upon finishing the breaking animation, it just resets back to normal. I have no idea how to replicate that.
