Block suffocation overlay is not shown in 3rd person

If you turn your camera perspective into 3rd person and bury yourself underground with gravel for example the block suffocation overlay won't be shown.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Set you gamemode to creative mode (It works in survival too, but in creative you won't take any damage).
2.  Dig 3 blocks down and fall down there.
3.  Place 2 gravel blocks above you and change your camera perspective to 3rd person.
4.  Drink the night vision potion and the invisibility potion and observe the results.

Observed result: 

Block suffocation overlay is not shown in 3rd person and you can see everything underground.

Expected result:

Block suffocation overlay should always be shown when camera is inside a solid block.
