I take fall damage using a wind charge once the water has been removed

When I use a wind charge and prevent fall damage with a water bucket, once I remove the water/get out from the water and go down a block I take the fall damage that I'd have taken if the water was not there.

Expected behaviour:
I shouldn't take fall damage after I get out from the water.
