Maps placed in item frames on floor or ceiling face in wrong direction

A map placed in an item frame on the floor is always oriented with the top of the map facing west.  A map placed in an item frame on the ceiling is always oriented with the top of the map facing east.  Maps can be subsequently rotated in the item frames to correct this but it would be more intuitive if the map was oriented so that it is 'upright' according to the player's view when placed.
