You can break non-transparent blocks in adventure mode if you follow these steps:

1. Go to survival mode, and without anything in the players hand, hit a block(s), but don't break it.
2. Switch to adventure mode and hit the block(s) you hit in survival mode, you notice that you can break the block(s).
