Items can disappear for a frame when being picked up

Searching for this issue brought up irrelevant results. Discovered while testing MC-239084.

Probably duplicates MC-166000.

The bug

When picking up an item, there is often a frame or so when neither the item entity is visible nor the item pickup animation displayed.

How to reproduce

1. Pick up a dropped item
2. Look very, very closely

Expected results

The transition from item entity to pickup animation should be continuous.

Actual results

Often, there is a single frame between the two where nothing is visible.
