Some mobs attached to fences via leads don't pathfind or have difficulty pathfinding to players that are tempting them

The Bug:

Some mobs attached to fences via leads don't pathfind or have difficulty pathfinding to players that are tempting them.

This issue cannot be seen with mobs such as pigs, cows, sheep, or chickens, therefore introducing an inconsistency.

Affected Mobs:

  • Armadillo
  • Axolotl
  • Camel
  • Frog
  • Goat
  • Sniffer

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Place down a fence and obtain a lead.
  2. Summon an armadillo and obtain a spider eye.
  3. Attach the armadillo to the fence via the lead.
  4. Hold the spider eye in your hand while close to the armadillo.
  5. Double-check that the armadillo is tempted by the item that you're holding in your hand by using the command provided below.
    /data get entity @e[type=minecraft:armadillo,limit=1,sort=nearest] Brain.memories."minecraft:is_tempted".value
  6. Move backward in an attempt to make the armadillo follow you.

Observed Behavior:

Some mobs don't pathfind or have difficulty pathfinding to players that are tempting them.

Expected Behavior:

All mobs would pathfind to players that are tempting them.
