keep getting this msg Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index 26 out of bounds for length 10, on vanilla when trying to connect to a server and dont have a clue what to do

i have been trying to play with my friend's on there server and i keep getting this nternal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index 26 out of bounds for length 10. I have no clue how to fix this or what to do
