mobs fall through/walk through blocks

there might be more than just this, but i have seen slimes jump in superflat and go through the grass, then jump up again and keep going through the grass. also, my pet dogs go through oak wood planks when walking, also walk through the planks. you can still see a little bit of the mob, but the part you see is black when they are in a block.
