Waxed Oxidized Copper Blocks in the Trial Chambers

Fully oxidized copper blocks in the Trial Chambers are waxed.

The only reason to ever wax oxidized copper would be to stop lightning from reverting the oxidation. Why would there be waxed oxidized blocks in the Trial Chambers? 

some trapdoors are not waxed.
