23w46a Pot didn't drop inputted item

I was going through a trial chamber on a test world, misclicked on a pot inputting my sword

What I expected to happen was...:
When I broke the pot, I expected my sword to drop since I had just put it into the pot

What actually happened was...:
I got the loot from the pot, but NOT my sword

EDIT: my sword apparently DID come out, but only reappeared when I hit a mob

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a pot in a trial chamber
2. put any item in and break the pot, picking up all the drops
3. hit a mob (doesnt work if you just punch the floor for some reason)
