Comparator doesn't read chest when there is a solid block above it.

Comparator doesn't read chest when there is a solid block above it.

I am currently making a autocrafting system and I am trying to take the comparator output of a chest but because of where is it in the build I need block above it and for some reason the comparator is not giving an output when there is a solid block above the chest.

This happened in 23w43a but that wasn't an option
