Corrupted/distorted audio with 7.1 sound upon opening menus

What I experience:

When I open Minecraft in any game version starting with Snapshot 23w35a and open any menu from the main menu screen, audio becomes severely broken. Any game version prior to Snapshot 23w35a does not have this issue.

This issue only appears when using 7.1 sound.

RAM does not seem to be an issue, I play with -Xmx16G and just in case tried -Xmx2G (standard), with no difference.
