actions in minecraft are sticking

when i play minecraft 1.6.2 whether I'm placing blocks or breaking blocks sometimes the commands "stick". so when I'm placing a block down, instead of placing one block it places a block everywhere i look. (same with if I'm breaking a block). BTW I'm sure its not my key board getting old because i just got my computer. thanks!
