Connecting to a server - failed to login: <?xml version="1.0"?>

Trying to connect to mineverse.com
Logging in appears and fails with the message.

EDIT: Tested connection with other servers. Issue persists across other servers, including ones in my area. Continual direct connect can result in a connection but mostly results in the XML version error message.
