I cant type in chat anymore when I try to I crash But i can do server commands

It happens in all game modes when I try to type to my friends in chat It will crash my minecraft versions 1.6.2. I can still do commands that start with a /
[example /spawn]

What I expected to happen was...:
I could say something to someone on a server [it happens on all servers]

What actually happened was...:
It crash and showed the new launcher
