2-sided piston placed instead of normal one

I placed down a sticky piston where it instantly got powered and it for some reason extended in two different directions.

When I tried to mine the extra piston head, it wouldn't go away. I reloaded and the extra piston head disappeared, so it could've been a client glitch and there was really no piston there.
