Melon and pumpkin stems are arched even when the melon/pumpkin is broken by a piston

Breaking a melon/pumpkin by hand works just fine, but stems will occasionally lock into the arched state if you automate it with pistons. Reloading the world fixes the glitched stems for a while, but after a while they glitch again, making an automated farm impossible in the long run.
