carpet vanishing

I built several large buildings in a village and I put carpeting down in all of them. The carpet looked great and lasted about a week. Today I came back to the village after being away for several days and the carpet had vanished.

Don't want to use carpet again until I know what happened as it is to much work just to have it disappear.
