Player can climb up one block while riding a boat or raft

I was riding a boat, and when I got to land, my game glitched and I didn't manage to get off, but I did not get stuck, instead I slid onto land. Later, I was riding the boat on ice and got onto a mountain without ever leaving the boat. 

However, when I went into menu and came back, I could not do this anymore, might have been a one off glitch, where the game thought I was not in a boat
