Underwater Night Vision Blindness

I was building at the bottom of the ocean using the water world superflat preset. Unable to see I used a night vision splash potion. Every block went pitch black and the sky went an odd shade of blue. Even glowstone wasn't helping fix this. Using a bucket of milk to get rid of the potion effects returned my sight.
