When I try to speak on minecraft multiplayer

I try to send something in local chat and minecraft crashes

What I expected to happen was...:
What I expected to happen was for the message to send and for minecraft not to close

What actually happened was...:
Minecraft crashed and closed the minecraft window and the message was not sent

1. get on a multiplayer server and try to speak
