Bug with placing and destroying stained cay

What I expected to happen was...:
When i place the clay block then destroy it, it wouuld just give it back

What actually happened was...:
When i placed down any stained clay block other than 'White Stained Clay' and hit it the block i had in my hand turned to a 'White Stained Clay'

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go in to creative or survival in Minecraft
2. Get 2 of a stained clay other than white
3. put one down
4. destroy it with the other clay block in hand
5. when it destroys the block in hand turns to white stained clay
