whenever I log into minecraft 1.6 the text is al scrambled and broken

what expected was my old minecraft, just like my unbroken 1.5.2 version

but when I started it up, every 2nd letter was hidden or partially showing
Describe what happened here

I'm not sure how it happened so I don't know how to reproduce it or trigger it
