All my buildings gone!

I was playing minecraft in version 1.6.2 on a hardcore survival and i was showing my friends my world. I logged off logged back on and minecraft took a long time with "downloading terrain" and when it opened I had all the same stuff in my inventory as i did before and had all the same stuff but all the building i had done was gone like the world was the same as when I first made it.
