walking/boat issues (almost like sticky keys)

movement is acting "sticky", even got stuck in the jump animation when i no longer was holding space bar. if I am trying to go in the boat if i even tap the A or D i turn in circles several times. 
I've been playing for years, never had this problem before the wild update

What I expected to happen was...:
I expect to walk and make a slight turn only while pressing the A or D, or to move only 1 block when tapping W or S for a second (not holding it)

What actually happened was...:
My character gets stuck moving in circles/running til she hits a wall. in a boat she just keeps going in circles

1. try to walk/row a boat
