Minecraft UI and text are messed up; text is narrow and UI doesn't function properly with scale above 5

The font of the text in game has changed. Also, when I try to set my UI above 7, it becomes extremely large and I cannot view my inventory and recipe book side by side; the recipe book overlays over the inventory and I cannot access it. This occurred yesterday, I do not know why but it may have happened after I changed the language from French to English or vice versa. I do not have any resource packs or mods.
