Permanent Elytra Flight, Even After Unequip or Death

I have also tested this in 1.18.2, where it functioned the same.

As the title states, I discovered a way to lock the player in the Elytra flight mode, at least on a server, where ping can be an issue. This locked flight still worked after I had unequipped the Elytra and even switched to another chestplate item, even after death. The only ways I found to get out of this was to crouch, toggle sprint, take fire damage, and I suspect Thorns damage too.

How to Perform This Exploit:

1. Be on a server. The server I discovered this on was mc.minehut.com, but others work too.
2. Equip the Elytra
3. Spam spacebar while looking down. I got better results while walking or sprinting.
4. After a long time of doing that, you should stop doing the Entering Flight animation, and just be stuck in the flying animation. Your hitbox will be shrunken down to ordinary Elytra flight size, but you will encounter strange clipping errors when you enter a two or three block tall space.
5. You may now unequip the Elytra and even switch to other armor.
6. Die, without toggling crouch or sprint, or taking fire or Thorns damage.

Strange Things I Noticed:

You can jump while touching the ground, which causes you to jump higher depending on your momentum.

You toss items from where a normal standing player would, that is to say around 1.5 blocks high.

You fire arrows from the same height (1.5 blocks), but they will behave unpredictably when airborne. When you are touching the ground, you fire them more reliably.

I'm almost sad to report this, because this was extremely fun to mess around with. It reminded me of bunnyhopping from GoldSrc and Source, so I referred to this as Elytra Bhopping or simply Bopping for short. Good luck on replicating this, because it took me ages every time I got reset to do it again.
