Boats with chest cant pass items through the hopper (down) if on pressure plate.

So I was doing a redstone mechanism when I saw the boat with chest wasn't putting the items in the hopper (down direction). I broke the pressure plate below it and the items started going through. I see this could be a problem with mechanisms for the redstone community and I would really like if the Mojang Team fixed it.
