Using quick craft on a furnace while smelting something else gives you the items, but not the exp

on a 1.19 world, I accidentally opened the quick craft menu (the green book on furnaces and crafting tables) and when I clicked to switch from smelting food to smelting iron, it put the food in my inventory and didnt give me the exp for it
