Orientation doesn't track mouse in 1.19 Java on Mac

Since 1.19 update, player orientation does not track cursor/mouse movement. clicks and scroll wheel still work. on inventory screen and pause menus, cursor works as normal. Have tried adjusting all settings on MC and System preferences. also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Also tried other mouses and the trackpad, no change
